Sports bars on the South Strand are plentiful - and though the choices offered are good, but they don’t receive quite the acclaim as they do in Myrtle Beach. The South Strand is known for its casual pace and upscale golf and dining options, but there are still a host of establishments that offer an inviting atmosphere to watch a game.

Here are the top 5 Sports Bars on the South end to watch a game. (Check out the top 5 sports bars list for the Central Myrtle Beach, and the North End too!)

1. Murphy’s Law (South, in Garden City) – If you are looking for a little local flavor, Murphy’s Law is your answer. Sports memorabilia (much of it Pittsburgh-based) adorns the walls and televisions abound. Great wings and happy hour specials make Murphy’s Law, which now has three locations, a prime spot to watch the NCAA Tournament.

2. Jimmagan’s Sports Pub – There is no more scenic sports bar in Myrtle Beach than Jimmagan’s, which overlooks Murrells Inlet on the Marshwalk. When you aren’t gazing out across the water, more than 60 televisions, including a large projection screen, provide ample viewing opportunities. As an added bonus, 40-cent happy hour wings hit the spot.

Thanks to Rhoda for pointing out that six months ago, Jimmagan's closed, and became another bar called Capt. Poo's. We haven't been there to see the changes, so instead of blindly recommending it, we're adding TWO new bonus locations:

    2A. The Carolina Tavern - Located on Inlet Square drive by the Inlet Square Mall, this former Hooter's is a great spot. Their claim to fame? The Grand Strand's only "Tap Tables," where you can pour your own beers fresh from the tap! Throw in ""Buy one entree, get another 1/2 off on Sundays," and you're set.

    2B. Cooter's Backyard Bar and Grill - Also near the Inlet Square Mall, this place is a local football fan favorite. If you're team isn't winning, you can take our your aggression by playing Wii on a big screen! The food is great, and the service is too - It's like being in your best friends back yard.

3. The Island Bar & Grill – Located on the corner of 17 Bypass and Glenn’s Bay Road in Surfside, the Island Bar is a surprise member of the list. The Island Bar is a friendly establishment with an owner who was a former Division I wrestler at Michigan State.  If you are rooting for Sparty this March, the Island Bar is for you.

4. Dagwood’s – The sister bar of the ever popular Bumstead’s in Myrtle Beach, Dagwood’s in Surfside offers a cozy environment, televisions at every booth and outstanding food. It’s not a sports–watching paradise like Overtime but it’s an enjoyable spot to take-in a game.

5. Carolina Wings & Rib House – There are a sufficient number of televisions and it’s a new establishment, so Carolina Wings & Rib House is nice, but the food is outstanding. How do 20 different wing sauces or baby back ribs slow cooked over 12 hours and finished with one of six barbeque sauces or rubs sound?  Thought so. If you are deep on the South Strand, this is your spot.
