Legends Parkland #8. Great Par 5 - runs right behind the condo I always rent so stopping in for quick bite is a bonus.

One of favorites would be that devilish # 3 at Tidewater. Usually only 124 yards to a multi multi tiered green. If you are on the wrong tier, a three putt is a good outcome. If you miss the green you can be dead

Oyster Bay, the 13th hole. There is not a better/prettier golf hole in Myrtle Beach. I've been playing in Myrtle for nine years now, we do a trip every June with 20 guys, and have played numerous courses. I don't want to take anything away from all the great places we've played, but the Oyster Bay 13th, in my opinion is the best golf hole there.

Aberdeen woodlands #4 That pond eats golf balls, at least mine anyway.

When Pine Lakes International was undergoing some changes years ago on the back nine, the temporary # 12 was then a par 3 of 120 yards or so. It is obviously my favorite because I made a hole in one and was playing with my son on vacation! THANK YOU!

I have just returned from my annual pilgrimage to Myrtle Beach. As usual the weather was warm and the beer was cold. I came the closest that I have come (other than witnessing 4 real ones) to a hole in one. I had been shooting like an idiot for the 90 holes that I had played in the previous 3 days so the last round of the trip was not one that I was expecting to do anything memorable in. We were playing a very nice course called King's North, an Arnold Palmer designed course (http://www.mbn.com/kingholes/index.cfm) I went out in 43 so was pretty excited as apart from double bogeys on the first and the ninth I was playing some pretty good golf (for me anyway). I get to the 12th (it is the 3rd on the card but we started on the 10th http://www.mbn.com/kingholes/hole3.cfm) and I decide to play the hole sensibly. I lay up with a 3 iron rather than trying to drive the short green - I hit a horrible banana slice (for those who have ever seen me play even worse than my normal slice). I stop, take a deep breath and decide that I am going to be sensible again and rather than try and hit a 5 wood or a 3 iron I am going to lay up with a pitching wedge and leave myself another wedge to the green. I hit the ground 2 inches behind the ball and it travels about 15 feet. I am now mildly annoyed so I decide that in order to save my round I will hit the green with a 5 wood, this shoot again goes about 10 feet. I am now throwing clubs around. I take a 3 iron and the balls goes about 50 feet. I then decide to hit an 8 iron and hit it into the greenside bunker. I wander up to the bunker and am almost hit by a tee shot from one of the following group who has decided to try and drive the hole. I hit a nice sand shot and then 3 putt for a 9. My good round has just fallen apart. I walk to the next tee (http://www.mbn.com/kingholes/hole4.cfm) wondering what other sport I can take up and hit a pitching wedge into the water. At this point I have only negative swing thoughts in my mind and a mild desire to throw all my clubs into the water. I take another ball out of my bag swing the pitching wedge it takes one bounce and rolls into the hole !!! A hole in one !!! Well a par really but as close as I have come so far.

My favorite hole to date is number 18 at the Caledonia Golf Course. What an intimidating hole to play when the wind is blowing and beautiful to watch from the clubhouse porch.

# 16 at True Blue. A long (for me) par three at 205 yards you look toward the green and the cliff of sand leaking down to the water gives me the feeling of viewing a mini Rock of Gibralter. it doesn't hurt that I birdied it either.

at Kings North at Myrtle Baech National, I believe it's the 6th hole with the island fairway onto a tiny green. last time we played the course i hit a drive dead center of the island, about 210 yards out. second shot hit the front of the green, popped in the air and started rolling towards the cup. the other seven golfers in our group were struggling to get on the green in 4, and i was putting for about an 8' eagle, but alas the putt when in and out of the hole, so i settled for a birdie. That is one of the reasons it will always be one of my favorite holes in myrtle beach

My personal favorite is Hole #13 at Possum Trot, "Analysis is Paralysis". My wife teases me about having analysis paralysis, but since I tend to slice, it's nice to be able to tee up and let it fly without fear of going in the water! Now, keeping it in play is another story altogether...=)
Thursday, May 7, 2009 by Steve:
No. 18 at Caledonia is a favorite just for the nerve racking approach over water to the green in front of the gallery on the porch.
Thursday, May 7, 2009 by Bill Thorp:
Has to be the par 5 2nd hole of the Mooreland Course at the Legends. As a habitual slicer I stand on that tee, knees knocking, as I view the lake on the right out of the corner of my eye. Last time I played the hole, I was with my 15 year old son, and his friend. I escaped with an impressive par that I still remember 8 years later!
Thursday, May 7, 2009 by Terry Spicer:
My favorite hole has to be #6, the "Gambler", at King's North at Myrtle Beach National. Anyone who has ever played the hole looks at the "risk/reward" situation differently, but I see it as a challenge and I have to try it. So far I've been successful, but who knows what time year will bring. If you haven't played King's North, you are missing a truly wonderful course.

Hole #6 par 5 at Myrtle Beach National Kings North. After visiting Myrtle Beach for a week for 16 years with 7 of my golfing buddies from Nebraska and playing over 70 of the golf courses that hole is the one that leaves me with the most lasting memories. Some good, some bad, it's the satisfaction of being the only one in your group successful in hitting and staying on the island and reaching the green in 2. Even though I might have 3 putted a couple of times for par it was worth the stories.

My favorite hole at Myrtle Beach is at the Dunes Club. The hole is a par 3 number 17. This is the hole that I had my one and only hole in one on so it will always be my favorite hole. Perfect weather,155yards,7 iron,--------- priceless. Van

The Island hole on Island Green. Memorable, since I made birdie on it, and had a very good round.
Thursday, May 7, 2009 by Nancy:
Arrowhead - Cyprus - 4th hole! My usual 'slice to the right' gets me in trouble 9 times out of 10 but whether it's slice or draw - it's a treat just being at Arrowhead with my Crazy Canadian golf group in October!
Thursday, May 7, 2009 by Mark:
Our groups favorite course for the past 20 years has to be Heritage, with the back 9 a strong preference. Hole 18 at Heritage has to be one of the best and most beautiful finishing holes in Myrtle. A great risk/reward par 5 that is not very long but does require accuracy and length to get to the hole in 3, with your third shot looking at a green protected by water. Our group of 20 play Heritage every year on Super Bowl Sunday and enjoy the beauty and challenge of this great course.
Thursday, May 7, 2009 by jean mailhot:
My favorite hole in Myrtle Beach would be the ninth hole at Rivers Edge. The second shot on this par 5 is breathtaking.200 yards over water to land on a tiny green, wow!
Thursday, May 7, 2009 by JHarris:
Another vote for Caledonia, but my favorite is number 8, the par 5 across the creek. It plays a high fade off the tee, but if you cut it too much, you lose it in one of the fearsome fairway bunkers. It takes some serious distance to get there in two and is probably not worth it because of the deadly green complex. The approach is reminicent of Augusta #12, across a creek with a *serious* two tiered green and "death bunkers" in the back. The flag is usually on the upper tier where it flattens out, making it a difficult task to stop it without going into one of the bunkers.
Thursday, May 7, 2009 by Don Sage:
My favorite is #13 at Oyster Bay Golf Links. Not only a true test of risk reward but visually interesting. I and a buddy of mine have the photos we purchased, mounted and displayed in our respective offices. A constant reminder!!!

Grande Dunes--# 14 Par 3. This par 3 is my favorite hole due to the challenge and beauty of the hole. It plays about 150-170 yds of all carry over marsh/water. It also borders beside the Waccamaw River for extra senic value, and added panic level. No matter how I've been playing, when I get to this hole, I feel some kind of divine intervention, and manage to hit the green every time. The kind of shot that keeps you coming back to the golf course time and time again.

Love to play the gambler at Kings North... a chanllenge to stay out of that water.
Thursday, May 7, 2009 by Mark Knapp:
My brother and myself have been bringing golfers down from Cincinnati,Ohio since 1993 every January,so to pick a favorite,is a tall order with so many beautiful courses and holes.I would have to say the 17th at Marsh Harbour was one of the most breathtaking holes on the strand, and as a group,we miss that course and wish someone would bring it back to the architectural integrity that it once owned.

#18 at River Club down near Litchfield. A sweeping Par 5. I've played it differently every time I've been there. Sometimes I try to cut the dogleg over the water - sometimes making it and other times not. Sometimes I take the conservative approach around the dogleg - get my 2nd shot in position for a good shot at the green. It's a fun hole, and when we play it with our group of 12-16 guys, most guys sit up on the hill behind the green and watch everyone play it differently as we conclude our matches. Great views from tee to green and a great finishing hole! You can get anything from an eagle to snowman!

My favorite hole in Myrtle Beach is the number 18 at Myrtlewood Palmetto course. You tee off from an elevated box with a great view of the inter-coastal waterway that runs along the left side of the entire hole. Don't focus on it to much or you will surely cost yourself a few strokes. I play this course with my son on every trip to Myrtle Beach and it close to our timeshare. Great fun and memories!!!!
Thursday, May 7, 2009 by colin russell:
17th at Glen Dornoch with out doubt of the back tee when the wind is blowing one of the toughest holes anywhere.
Thursday, May 7, 2009 by Randy Horvat:
I love the Caledonia course but #18 coming in is my favorite because of the difficulty of the hole and the view.
Thursday, May 7, 2009 by Bert Hayslip Jr.:
My favorite hole is #6 at Myrtle Beach National Kings North. It's a great "gambling hole" (hence the name the "gambler" taken from the Kenny Rogers song) where you can drive the ball into a narrow landing area, and face a daunting shot into the green which is narrow, bordered by both sand and water. Even the safe shot is not safe if you push your drive! I really enjoy playing this hole because it is so challenging! Unfortunately, I have yet to go for the green in 2, and even took a 10 trying to play safe!
Thursday, May 7, 2009 by Malcolm Campbell:
The Legends Parkland #9 is one of my fovorite holes. Having played in Myrtle Beach in the Spring and Fall for over 35 years, I have seen them all. #9 is a relative short par 4 dog leg right with water all up the right side and out of bounds through the fairway requiring a precise drive; not too long but just short of the elevated green. There are bunkers on the left side and one humongous bunker on the right with a front face some 15 feet below the green. Long drivers may attempt to drive the green but failing to do so may require a bunker shot away from the green to escape. The green slopes back to front and somewhat crowned. A par here requires a precise drive, average approach and two delicate putts; a birdy possible but a double or tripple more probable.

I enjoyed playing Blackmoore the most. It was the fairways that made it so different than the others.
Friday, May 8, 2009 by David Rainone:
My favorite hole is Number 1 at Caledonia. It means I've got 17 great holes at a fantastic golf course left to go. The 18th is a great hole, but it ends the fun.
Friday, May 8, 2009 by Phil DeLay:
The par 3 number 7 at the original Eastport golf course. I watched my Dad make his first and only hole-in-one at this hole which was also witnessed by my brother. What a great day for our Dad and a wonderful memory for my brother and myself!
Friday, May 8, 2009 by Tom Weber:
My favorite hole is on a course we play every April on our annual trip to M.B. It is the par 5 number 9 hole at Rivers Edge. After a tee shot with the Intercostal along the left side of the fairway, one has to decide whether to lay up or to go over an inlet to a narrow approach (trouble on each side) to a green stuck out on the Intercostal. It is the signature hole for Rivers Edge. I've never parred it. But I hope to next year! (I'm a Cub fan, too!)

Oyster Bay 13th Hole has it all Water, dogleg right, large bunkers in front and watery oblivion behind. Just a magical hole on a fantastic course. This hole alone is worth the drive down from Canada Jerry Heatley
Friday, May 8, 2009 by kevin moots:
14th at man o war while being paired with a couple from canada we all hit onto green which is surrounded by water we saw bubbles 15 feet out the woman approched after many warnings put her putter into water and waved around the bubbles get closer more warnings within 5 feet a man popped out dressed in full scuba scared the crap out of her but offered a ball as sign of peice

I have played in Myrtle Beach since 1980 and its a tough choice between #13 at Oyster Bay and #9 at Rivers Edge. Both great holes but since I have a large picture of #13 at Oyster Bay I guess my vote goes to it.
Friday, May 8, 2009 by Jim OToole:
The ninth hole at Rivers Edge kept me from shooting 79--All I needed was a bogie and I doubled it but what a beautiful hle to play.
Friday, May 8, 2009 by Tom Hollis:
The par 5 gambler at Palmer design @ Myrtle Beach National
Friday, May 8, 2009 by Larry Kelley:
The 13th at The Long Bay Club. It's the closest I come to playing the 17th at Sawgrass. I love it!
Friday, May 8, 2009 by Dave Gregory:
We have been traveling to Myrtle Beach for the last 6 years and have encountered some of the best courses on the Strand. One of my favorite holes is the Grande Dunes 14th - Par 3. This is a tough Par 3 with a right-to-left sloping green, but it has an awesome view of the intracoastal waterway on the right.
Friday, May 8, 2009 by mark spaulding:
My favorite hole in M.B. Is the 5th at Oyster Bay. A beatiful par 5 along the marsh and inlet. Stunning views from the tee box and fairway
Saturday, May 9, 2009 by darrell cochran:
#5 at the Witch is a tough par 5...not as tough as #9 at Rivers Edge, as anyone who has played that hole can confirm...but #5 at the Witch has alligators galore from tee to green...don't go left with any shot
Saturday, May 9, 2009 by Chuck Higgins:
I like the par 3 13 at Possom Trot. It plays longer than it looks and with the water and the bunkers it is intimidating.
Sunday, May 10, 2009 by Lou Bartholomay:
Another vote for the "Gambler" at Kings North. Been to Myrtle 30+ times and have played MBN at least 7 times...Have taken an 11 playing it safe and my best was "Bogey" when I chalenged it. Since I can't get to Pebble Beach if I had one more round to play it would be "Kings North"
Sunday, May 10, 2009 by Alice:
River Oaks 8th hole par 3 122 yards I got a hole in one that day on Sept.15th,2008.I was playing with my husband and 2 other guys that never seen a hole in one and never had one themselves. The other guys were in their 60,s and 70 years old and they were killing off the tee but never had a hole in one.
Wednesday, May 13, 2009 by Mike Brown:
Heritage number 18 fits my draw off the tee and teebox has a beautiful of the various surronding holes and landscape. Great finishing hole with carry across the water to the green.
Monday, May 18, 2009 by John Daianu:
My favorite hole at Myrtle beach [there are so many] would have to be the 12th at Tidewater. I love the view from the tee to the par 3, plus it doesn't hurt that I won money from my fellow golfers that day with a pin shot and a skin.
Tuesday, May 19, 2009 by Dave R.:
Par 4 18th at Leopards Chase. Mid Range Par 4 with water left and waste bunkers right. Small fairway landing area as water juts creeps from the left, if you hit driver off the tee. Beautiful waterfalls on left side of a small, trouble surronded green. After 17 holes of 3 putts and lost balls... nice to end with a birdie...to bring you back another day
Thursday, June 4, 2009 by D.W. Felty:
There was a par 3 hole across a pond full of turtles at Cypress Bay.
Thursday, June 11, 2009 by James Petrauskas:
Some one from Myrtle beach should put together a calendar with holes just from Myrtle beach...I think it would be a good seller.
Monday, June 22, 2009 by Kathy Hannan:
The Ninth Hole at Possum Trot is by far my favorite hole in all of Myrtle Beach. It is a very challenging hole but fun to play.
Tuesday, June 23, 2009 by marcandre :
i'm going to myrtle beach this year and past year...i play 20 golf course...and 2 hole are my favorite...but my very favorite is the #9 hole at river edge wow great view, and very difficult...and another hole is the #18 hole at leopard chase because he has a great finish view
Wednesday, July 8, 2009 by Doug Trout:
Favorite MB golf hole to date: #17 at The Wizard. Island green, pin tucked over the front bunker, severe slope from back to front. A four hole carry over that day, with Justin hitting 3 feet from the hole. I put mine about 12 ft behind the hole, made the putt, he missed. So sweet.
Tuesday, September 8, 2009 by Kevin Decker:
My favorite golf hole in Myrtle Beach is #12 at Tidewater. With a peninsula green that must be hit over the marsh, I've used every club in my bag from 7 iron in calm conditions to a 5 wood when the wind is howling. It's got beautiful views of the Cherry Grove inlet and it's challenging.
Saturday, September 26, 2009 by Dickie Mohre:
Of all the golf I have played in Myrtle there is only one that is always the one to play and beat! "THE GAMBLER" at Kings North! No matter what kind of round I am having, You have to go for it in two! The reason? Just like Mt. Everest "JUST BECAUSE". After playing the hole it is never the same twice. The most fun is after putting out just stay and watch your buddies go for it! The 19th hole is a great place to hear all the B.S. of how they almost made it! The same for the 18th at the River Club! MAN UP and go for it!
