There will be more Love than usual surrounding this year’s Hootie & the Blowfish Monday After the Masters Celebrity Pro-Am.
Ryder Cup Captain Davis Love III has committed to play in this year’s event, which will be held at Barefoot Resort’s Dye Course for the 10th consecutive year on April 9.
A 20-time winner on the PGA Tour, including the 1997 PGA Championship, Love is one of the game’s most popular players. A Charlotte, N.C., native, Love is intimately familiar with the Carolinas and Myrtle Beach golf in particular.
His first major design project was the Love Course at Barefoot, which has been ranked among America’s Top 100 public layouts and is one of the most popular Myrtle Beach golf courses.
A good bet to one day be enshrined in the World Golf Hall of Fame, Love is also a two-time winner of The Players Championship (1992 and 2003) and a five-time champion at the Heritage.
This will be the Love’s first appearance at the MAM, where he will join a list of previous participants that includes Tiger Woods, Arnold Palmer, Tom Watson and Jim Furyk, among others.
Other early commitments to the 2012 event include Tommy “Two Gloves” Gainey, Conway native Kristy McPherson and John Daly, all of whom have played in previous years.

Monday After the Masters, entering its 18th year overall, is the largest single-day fundraiser in South Carolina and the event has raised more than $4.5 million for charity. All proceeds from the event go to the Hootie & the Blowfish Foundation, which benefits the educational needs of children in South Carolina and the South Carolina Junior Golf Foundation.
In addition to the appearance of Love, ESPN Radio’s Mike & Mike in the Morning, America’s most popular sports talk show, is returning and will broadcast live from the first tee at the Dye Course.
Monday After the Masters will tee off with a celebrity long drive contest at 10 a.m., and the tournament starts at 11 a.m.
