The nation’s largest scholastic golf tournament, the Palmetto will be played April 5-7 on some of the best Myrtle Beach golf courses. The 54-hole event annually attracts more than 50 teams from across the United States.

Current PGA Tour players Rickie Fowler, the 2006 champion, and Harris English are among the Palmetto’s most distinguished alums.

The event’s final two rounds will be played at Legend’s Resort on the Heathland, Parkland and Moorland courses.

All five host courses have earned at least 4 stars in Golf Digest’s prestigious Best Places to Play guide, and the Fazio Course has been ranked among America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses by Golf Digest.

“The course lineup for this year’s Palmetto is as strong as it has ever been,” said Dave Macpherson, Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday’s tournament director. “This is one of our favorite events of the year, because it’s a chance to bring some of the best young players in America and the next generation of traveling golfers to the area.”

Charlotte Country Day, the 2011 team champion, will be back to defend its crown this year.

The Palmetto is open to any spring season high school golf team. Each team must have at least four participants and no more than five.
