Myrtle Beach's Top 5 Raw Bars

raw_oysters.jpgAs we head into the winter months, Myrtle Beach still enjoys good golf weather and oysters, a perennial favorite, are in-season. The Grand Strand is home to an abundance of local oyster beds, but where should you go for everyone’s favorite mollusk?

We have recommendations for those of you in search of the area’s best raw bars.

1. Rockefellers –
A local’s favorite in North Myrtle Beach, Rockefellers isn’t much to look at from the outside but the food is excellent. If you wants oysters (.45 cents during happy hour!), Rockefellers is as good a place as any to go.

2. Shucker’s – With two Myrtle Beach locations – one at Broadway at the Beach, the other downtown – Shucker’s is the area’s most visible raw bar. The atmosphere is outstanding and so is the food.

3. Bimini’s Oyster Bar –
Open since 1985, Bimini’s brings a taste of the islands to the local raw bar scene. With the sounds of Jimmy Buffett, reggae and live beach music pumping through the bar, there are few more enjoyable places to enjoy oysters.

4. Flying Fish – Located at Barefoot Landing, the raw bar at Flying Fish is among the area’s best. Flying Fish overlooks the Intracoastal Waterway and the food is as good as the view.

5. Divine Fish House –
The raw bar at Divine’s is an integral part of one of the best restaurants on the Marsh Walk in Murrells Inlet. It doesn’t have the gritty feel of a traditional raw bar, but for quality, it’s hard to beat.

We agree with Rockefellers as the place after 18, 27 or even after the show at HOB, which is just down the road. Just great.
