Rangers.jpgAs spring dawns, the Myrtle Beach golf scene heats up, literally and figuratively, in March.  Golfers flock to area and the good times Myrtle Beach has long been known for take full flight, including a visit this year by the American League champion Texas Rangers.

In addition to more than 1,000 bars and restaurants, the Grand Strand has an assortment of events that offer the opportunity for live entertainment and memorable nights.

If a Myrtle Beach golf trip is on the docket this March, here are five events, in chronological order, you will want to check out.

Second Annual Irish Fest, March 12, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. – St. Patrick’s Day has become  day of great revelry for many people, but the area’s most raucous celebrations will take place on Saturday, March 12. The Irish Fest, which will be held at Market Common, offers free admission and authentic Irish music, food and beer (more than 20 different brews).

Ocean Boulevard’s St. Patrick’s Day Celebration, Saturday, March 12, 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. – After starting at the Irish Fest, conclude the day at the Ocean Boulevard celebration. The event will be headlined by performances from Days of the New and Sister Hazel. It’s all happening in Myrtle Beach between 8th Avenue North and 11th Avenue North. It’s free of charge.

March Madness at Overtime Sports Cafe – Alright, this isn’t an event like the others on the list, but nearly everyone loves the NCAA Tournament and Overtime Sports Cafe in North Myrtle Beach is the place to watch the Big Dance.

Myrtle Beach Beer Fest, March 25, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.; Saturday, March 26, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. – The Beer Fest is one of Myrtle Beach’s fastest growing and most popular events. There are more than 120 beers to sample, live music and admission is, again, free. The Beer Fest will be held at Market Common and it’s an ideal place to head after a round of golf.

Texas Rangers vs. Coastal Carolina, March 29, 6:30 p.m., BB&T Field – The AL champs are coming to Myrtle Beach for an exhibition game against Coastal. Pelicans owner Chuck Greenberg purchased the Rangers and he has promised to bring the club’s stars to the game. Get ready for Josh Hamilton, Ian Kinsler and friends to hit the Grand Strand. The Pelicans are now the Rangers’ High A affiliate.
