GTG_Logoteeball.jpgThe days of sweating over group pairings and pouring over scorecards to determine who won a myriad of bets are over.

Planning a golf trip used to be a labor love for group leaders, but GolfTripGenius.com, the game’s preeminent planning site, now allows for the removal of much of the work.

Technology has created efficiencies in every facet of modern life, and GolfTripGenius has, mercifully, brought those advances to golf travel.

Started by a collection of technology executives and programmers, GolfTripGenius is an online toolkit that makes planning, organizing and reliving a golf trip simple. It’s time to leave the three-ring binders and excel spreadsheets at home (group leaders, you know what I’m talking about!).

GolfTripGenius, which is recommended for any group of eight or more, provides five tools for groups to use. Here is a look at each tool.

1. Perfect Pairings – Did you know there are more than 50 billion trillion pairings possibilities for a 12-man, 6-round golf trip? Perfect Pairings evaluates millions of combinations per second, simplifying a difficult task.

What makes it ideal is that group leaders have the ability to set parameters for each day’s pairings.  If certain guys need to play together (or stay apart!) that can be accounted for, and pairings are generated in less time than it takes Dustin Johnson to hit a 300-yard drive.

2. Tournament Manager – Built by an avid golfer from Scotland, the Tournament Manager is to online scoring what St. Andrew’s is to golf courses. Group leaders can set up as many different tournaments as they’d like, ranging from basic (Nassau, Skins and Stableford) to complicated (Ryder Cup). Score entry is fast – a group of 16 players can be entered in less than two minutes – and gross and net scores are immediately computed and displayed on the leaderboard. It’s a thing of beauty.

3. Trip Book – Trip Book allows the memories created on a golf trip to live in perpetuity. Trip Book creates a digital album that includes photos, your tournament leaderboard and purse summaries, among other things. Photos can be uploaded via phone or digital camera. The trip book resides on your computer and it can be printed. This is one of GolfTripGenius’ most popular features.

4. Trip Accountant – Finances are never fun but this tool makes it easy. The group leader enters the costs and collective receipt amounts into the Trip Accountant and it lets each person know what they owe. The program also allows group leaders to account for guys who paid more in certain situations or owe less in others. It’s convenient to use and the math is mistake free.

5. Trip Dashboard – This is where the entire group joins the fun. Each player can create a profile that includes flight plans, handicap index, confirmation numbers, dinner reservations and anything else you can imagine. Did I mention a bulletin board that allows for a little trash talk? Like everything else on the site, efficiency is king. Think of it as your command center.

GolfTripGenius has two packages:

The Basic Edition ($1 per round, per golfer, price doesn’t exceed $49): Plan includes the Perfect Pairings and Trip Dashboard tools. An outstanding no frills option that makes daily pairings and communication easy.

The Genius Edition ($3 per round, per golfer, price doesn’t exceed $249): Plan includes all five tools. Given the ease of use, the fun it generates, and the efficiencies it creates, the Genius Edition comes highly recommended.

Trust us, GolfTripGenius is an asset to any trip.
