CBS analyst, Golf Magazine columnist and renowned funnyman David Feherty will be headlining the entertainment at the Golf.com World Amateur Handicap Championship’s renowned 19th Hole on Thursday, September 2.

Feherty, a newly minted American citizen, has grown into one of golf’s most popular television personalities through his keen analysis and sense of humor. He will address Golf.com World Am participants on the event’s final night, sharing stories from his years in the game as a player and an announcer.

“We are thrilled that David Feherty will be appearing at the World’s Largest 19th Hole,” said Dave Macpherson, the Golf.com World Am’s tournament director. “He is one of the game’s most popular personalities and should contribute greatly to the experience for World Am players.”

Feherty played on both the European and PGA Tours, winning five times on the European circuit and twice finishing in the top 10 in the Order of Merit. He played two years on the PGA Tour, recording a second place finish at the New England Open. Feherty had three top 10 finishes in the Majors, including a fourth place effort at the 1994 British Open, and he played in the famed 1991 Ryder Cup, scoring 1.5 points.

In addition to his golf work, Feherty has become a tireless advocate for American troops wounded in combat (the link takes you to a must-read story), using his celebrity and humor to make a difference in the lives of people who have sacrificed dearly for our freedom.

A native of Northern Ireland, Feherty has also authored three best-selling books: A Nasty Bit of Rough, Somewhere in Ireland a Village Is Missing an Idiot, and David Feherty's Totally Subjective History of the Ryder Cup.

Feherty will join Annika Sorenstam and Jeff Gordon, among others, who have headlined the entertainment at the 19th Hole.

About the World Am
The World Am is a 72-hole tournament that is open to all golfers – young and old, male and female – with a verifiable handicap. Players are separated by age and gender – there are six different divisions – and placed in tightly grouped flights based on the game’s most comprehensive and accurate handicap system.

Each flight, which includes approximately 48 players, plays a different Myrtle Beach area course everyday and after four rounds, all flight winners and ties advance to the World Championship Playoff on Friday at the famed Dunes Golf & Beach Club.

Thanks to its handicap system, the World Am provides players the opportunity to compete on a level playing field, something the list of past world champions bares out. Players with handicaps as low as two and has high as 34 have hoisted the winner’s trophy.

While competition is an integral component of the event, it’s far from the only attraction. Each night players gather at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center to enjoy the World’s Largest 19th Hole, the event’s social hub. The World’s Largest 19th Hole provides three hours of free food from some of the area’s finest restaurants, free top shelf drinks, live entertainment and a golf expo that features instructional clinics from some of the game’s leading names.

Sorry to see you lending you name to a tournament over run with handicap rules infractions and outright lies. I have sent the tournament committee and the world am several emails with info and have not gotten any response, yet they lament lack of players. 'FOR THE GOOD OF THE GAME' does not apply here. Dear Ladies and Gentleman; I am involved with Honor Flight of South Carolina; the purpose of this grouop is to bring those WWII veterans who are still alive and still able to travel to their memorial in Washington, DC. Such a trip is expensive, and it is our policy that none of the veterans themselves may donate funds toward the trip. If you could assist us with a fund raiser with Mr. Fehrety and Ms. Sorenstam it would be greatly appreciated. I realize that their time is limited while they are in the area for World Am, but if we could piggyback on an event, that would be wonderful and would greatly assist us in our fund raising efforts. I would like to thank you in advance for anything you could do for this very worthy cause. We lose between 1100 and 1200 of these great Americans every day.
