Counting Our Blessings, Myrtle Beach Golf Style

big golf club.jpgThanksgiving is a time of year for reflection, the opportunity express gratitude for the blessings that have been bestowed upon the Myrtle Beach golf community. While appreciative of those things, we are here to talk about something only slightly less serious – five things about the game of golf we are thankful for!

1. Bigger Sweet Spots: Golf is hard, even if you are a low handicapper. For those with a two as the first number of their handicap it can be excruciatingly difficult. While people argue about the impact of technology on the game, count us among the disinterested in the debate. Drivers, irons and wedges are more forgiving than ever and that is something to be VERY thankful for.

2. Cart Girls: We’ve already concluded that the game is challenging, so the ability to take the edge of the struggle is, at times, much appreciated. A double bogey is a little easier to bear when a pretty face offering the cold drink of your choice awaits on the next tee.

Walking the occasional round is great, but riding, now complemented by GPS devices that tell you how far you are from the hole, is the way to go. I still appreciate the golf cart.

4. The Good Old Days: There is one thing in golf that offers a delicious combination of sweet spots, carts and cart girls – the Myrtle Beach golf trip. In an increasingly stressful world, the ability to enjoy a few days of revelry with friends is more valuable than ever. Short nights, long days, 36 holes. There are few things better than a great golf trip.

What surrounding the game of golf are you most thankful for?

Must admit the cart girls are a friendly sight to see, although on our trip, we missed the young lady above. You can't beat the friendliness of the town or the golf course staff. Thanks Again for a great trip. David Nelms
