MAM2010 - Furyk signs autographs.JPGMyrtle Beach’s biggest golf party – the Hootie & The Blowfish Monday After the Masters Celebrity Pro-Am - is just days away. Actors, athletes and entertainers are preparing to descend on the Dye Course at Barefoot Resort & Golf for the 17th annual event and anticipation has never been higher.

This will be the ninth consecutive year that the Dye Course has hosted the MAM and the field will again be star-studded. Among the big names scheduled to participate are former pro bowl quarterback Jim McMahon, comedian Ron White, Daytona 500 winner Michael Waltrip, ESPN radio host Doug Gottlieb and PGA Tour stars Jim Furyk, John Daly and Chris DiMarco.

This year’s event will also feature a live broadcast by ESPN Radio’s Mike & Mike Show. The popular morning sports talk show is syndicated nationally on radio and will be simulcast on ESPN2 from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Anyone that has tickets to the tournament is welcome to come watch the Mike & Mike Show as well.

All ticket proceeds benefit the Hootie & the Blowfish Foundation, which supports the educational needs of children in South Carolina and the South Carolina Junior Golf Foundation.

The Monday After the Masters has grown into one of golf’s leading celebrity events, attracting the likes of Bill Murray, Arnold Palmer and Tiger Woods over the years.

The event, which begins with a celebrity long drive contest, features an 18-hole captain’s choice golf tournament. In 2010, the team led by PGA Tour pro D.J. Trahan and country singer Steve Azar won the Monday After the Masters with a score of 18 under par.

The Dye Club, one of America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses, according to Golf Digest, is an ideal venue for the event. The stadium style design allows the course to welcome spectators, who have the opportunity to meet some of sports, music and entertainment’s biggest stars.
